Dallas
Area Doin's
Just to keep you expatriates,
and those of you who work and can't keep up with the news on Fox News
"Fair and Balanced" news, which has changed my life and made
me from a snarling mongrel to a purring pussycat. First time I ever
heard news fairly reported on TV. So a few local items probably not
shown in your area:
1. Two of the famous
"Texas Seven" prison escapees who after their escape killed
Irving policeman Aubrey Hawkins have been tried and each found guilty
of capital murder. The first one was the ringleader of the group and
has already been sentenced to death. The second has been found guilty
of capital murder but the jury is still out on the sentencing phase.
2. Funny if it wasn't
so sad. Two Dallas undercover narcotic agents made a massive buy of
cocaine with marked police money and then blew the whistle on the group
and arrested some eighteen or twenty guys. The money was well over $100,000
and was genuine money and was only partially recovered. Now the two
narc officers are suspended because it turns out that the white powder
they bought was crushed sheet rock filler and all eighteen of the arrestees
had to be released because they had no evidence of wrong doing. An investigation
is under way.
3. The Dallas mayoral
race is in the runoff stage between Laura Miller (flaming liberal, tree-hugger
type with a fierce temper) and Tom Dunning (quintessential Enron type
business man who is very pro business and is not overly blessed with
personality.) I think Miller would have won hands down except she volunteered
at a rally that other day that she favored gun control---I think that
has a good chance of beating her although Dunning is very lackluster.
Not much else but
I will consider it my duty from time to time to keep you informed. If
you're not interested, then D-e-l-e-t-e.
