Eric
I got
the news that Eric died
His passing went almost unnoticed
I thought of his incessant rocking
His presence
tolerantly endured
We were such saints because we guessed
Upon his head cruel blows had come
Remedial reading
Inside we're pleading
Can't stop the bleeding
It pleased us so to think ourselves
Authors of his daily mending
But by his stripes it's we were healed
And I hope for all our sakes
That Eric is a kinder judge
Of our collective frailty
There will be a reckoning
For those who no due deference gave
The Hand that gently rocked this Child.
Human
debris is still human
