Sonnet
5
(for mother)
You've
tolerated me when I was bad
and tried to cater
to my every need.
For though my
dad would push me to succeed
if I were merely
happy you'd be glad.
A temper to the
harshness you have proved
of grim reality
and daily grind.
Kind-heartedness
is what you bring to mind
and I have never
doubted that I'm loved.
There was a moment
that you never knew
unconscious after
such invasive touch
when suddenly
the weight was just too much
the chasm closed
the reckoning was due.
Mother, you are
Goddess of my Heart
reminding me the
Universe is art.
